ATMLHB Chapter 8.1

Wu Li Chen’s lower back was laced with pain.

Although Wu Li Chen didn’t let his pain delay the filming, his expression was set in stone, and when he sat down, his movements were noticeably slower. The cast and crew couldn’t help but look at him.

Several people crowded in front of Wu Li Chen to open a bottle of water and pour its contents into his mouth. “Okay, that’s enough.”

Wu Li Chen’s expression remained unchangeable as he grabbed the script and looked over it. After listening to the constant chatter right next to his year, Wu Li Chen took his script and patted the man next to him on his head. “Little boy, want to give it a try, too?”

The man immediately choked, quickly coughing and waving his hand in response.

Wu Li Chen took out his phone, and deleted all the short videos since there was no reason to keep them.

Wu Li Chen’s back hurt solely because he spent every night sleeping on the ground next to the sofa. Cen Si Miao stubbornly refused to sleep on the bed and insisted on sleeping on the sofa.

When Wu Li Chen returned to the hotel and saw the sofa, his expression turned ghastly, as though he were looking at an enemy.

Cen Si Miao spent the last few days predicting when Xu Senni would come around, but so far, Xu Sennni hadn’t made any strange movements besides calling her on the opening day of the gallery.

There was an 80% chance that Xu Senni thought the paintings she had were real, and hence, she wouldn’t be panicking.

As soon as Cen Si Miao thought of this, Xu Senni’s phone call came.

In a gentle, tender voice, Cen Si Miao asked the system a question. “System, if my life is in danger, are you responsible for protecting it?”　

The system, who was laboriously tapping at his software component, became impatient when he heard her question. Setting down his software component, the system began to play the whack-the-table background music.

“Hurry up and go! There’s no time to waste!”

Cen Si Miao peeled a tangerine and popped it into her mouth.

Wu Li Chen stepped up his filming speed in the last few days, eating boxed meals on the set for dinner. Every morning after getting up, he would make breakfast for Cen Si Miao and wait for her to wake up.

When Wu Li Chen was on set, he ordered take-out for Cen Si Miao’s lunch and dinner.

Cen Si Miao ate and frowned. 

By the time Wu Li Chen came home, it was already midnight. He quietly tip-toed into the room, took off his shoes, and sneaked a glance at the sofa.

There wasn’t anybody there

Wu Li Chen’s eyebrows knit, and he cast his glance at the clothes rack and saw that Cen Si Miao’s bags were still hanging there. Feeling a little depressed, he called out for Cen Si Miao. “Cen jie?”

There was no response.

After taking a few steps into the room, Wu Li Chen suddenly heard the faint sound of footsteps. Immediately, he dashed off to find the source. Upon reaching the kitchen, he found a figure dress in comfortable clothing. Cen Si Miao’s collar hung loose as she bent over, and she seemed extremely languid.

Her back was turned to him as she faced the various pots and pans on the stove.

”Why haven’t you gone to bed yet? What are you standing there for?”

Cen Si Miao paused and glanced over her shoulder, puzzled. Upon seeing Wu Li Chen, she took off her headphones and asked, “When did you get back?”

“I’m trying to learn how to cook so I don’t have to bother you,” she continued.

Wu Li Chen stared at her in silence before turning around wordlessly to take a shower.

Cen Si Miao felt a bit perplexed. She was just going to learn how to cook so Wu Li Chen wouldn’t be so tired, but she still managed to offend him.

It was rare for Wu Li Chen to have free time where he wouldn’t have to film scenes. Now that he was finally free for a short period of time, he spent his free time lying next to the sofa and sleeping.

Cen Si Miao sat on the sofa with her nailpolish and began to paint her toes. The red-purple color that contrasted her pale skin looked appealing to the eye.

Suddenly, Wu Li Chen rolled over.

As Cen Si Miao watched him out of the corner of her eyes, she spilled a drop of nail polish onto the floor beneath her. Setting the nail polish on the floor, Cen Si Miao reached out to rub off the nail polish and in the midst of doing so, gently touched the corner of Wu Li Chen’s blanket. Immediately, he opened his eyes.

His sudden movement scared Cen Si Miao almost to death and she found herself losing her balance and falling on top of him. Wu Li Chen wrapped his arm around her waist and softly whispered into her ear, “You’re used to falling on me.”

Cen Si Miao lifted her head and gazed into his eyes.

When he had first awoken, Wu Li Chen’s eyes were bleary, and his whole body exuded lethargy, but now he had come back to his sense

Cen Si Miao could clearly see the lust in his eyes as she attempted to retreat from his gaze.

Cen Si Miao cleared her throat and opened her mouth to speak, but she suddenly felt warmth on her lips as Wu Li Chen hugged her tighter, engulfing her in his scent.

Cen Si Miao scanned the mission bar: 75%.

Cen Si Miao’s whole body trembled with excitement, her cheeks flushed, and her chest rose and fell rapidly. Just as she was about to respond, she felt the arms around her wait loosen and the warmth leave her lips　　

Her eyes were clouded as she stared at Wu Li Chen.　　

His complexion was ashen, and when he looked at Cen Si Miao, his Adam’s apple bobbed rapidly. Wu Li Chen gasped and pursed his lips. “What are you afraid of? You’re shaking so much. It’s not like I’m going to eat you.”

Cen Si Miao’s words were lodged in her throat.
